Sharing 5: E-Portfolio

Hi and Assalamualaikum guys! Alhamdulillah, I think this is the last entry for my E-Portfolio in this Usrah Budi 2. So, let me introduce a little bit of myself after we have sharing lots of things. My name is Amiratul Huda. I am from Terengganu. And now, i'm in my Second Year First Semester. Another university called as third sem. From Kuliyyah of IRK, Islamic Revealed Knowledge and majoring in Quran and Sunnah.

Usrah Budi 2 is difference with Usrah Budi 1. We learn in different way. Before, in Usrah Budi 1, we have some sharings together. But only by talking with each other. However, in Usrah Budi 2, sometimes we get to watch Youtube, learning about the Important of 5 Prayers. Then, we also joining a workshop outside of our class. But still in our class time. So, it was fun. It is not limited only hearing the sharing. Even though we also having fun with the sharing, but having the different kind of event was better. It is something new and for me give more benefits.

Having class and all things happen in online was kinda hard. But, Alhamdulillah, i still manage to join some events. And one of my favourite for this semester is, I get to experience as a moderator. Even though my wifi is not totally helpful until the end. But I get new knowledge and new skills from it.

In Usrah Budi 2, I learned a lot of things. The Important of 5 Prayers, Supplications and Sunnahs before Sleeping, Free Mixing between Men and Women and Our Responsibility in Reciting Quran.  Even though most of it something that we already knew, but hearing this sharing again remind us thag it should not be left out. It looks small but it's still important in our life. When we are dealing with our problems, sometimes we need to take a little rest and self-reflect in our ibadah. Because the ibadah, like prayers is the roots. So, if the roots is well, the tree will also go well. It is same with our life. It's important to take care of our ibadah. As it reflects on our works and our life.

Sleeping is important. But we need to make sure we sleep enough, not sleep more. Our Ikhtilat also need to take of carefully. Having to deal with opposite gender is what we always do. So, we need to follow the guidelines so that it wont destroy us in some way. Also, we need to think of our responsibility in Quran. Most people nowadays, when they are getting older, they tend to forget more about about Quran.

After having Usrah Budi 2, I realize there are some things that we need to ammend. But, i think that, not everyone will be able to. Problems like wifi connection isn't something that everyone can be okay. Because, even though im using wifi. My connection isn't always stable. I am very grateful to have an understanding Naqibah and helpful classmates beside me. The help me going through in this semester. Thank you and may Allah bless you.

Sharing 4: Our Responsibility in Reciting Quran

Assalamualaikum w.b.t
Alhamdulillah, grateful to Allah that we get to have a chance to join one of program during our Usrah Class. "Let's Tahsin" is the program name. It is held on Quranic Week 5.0 (2020)

The program was basically teach us on how to recite al-Quran correctly. In the beginning, Ustaz gives us some motivation for us to keep learning in Quran, even though we already pass from our school. Because we tend to forget and not all of our pronounce is correct. So, we need a teacher to teach us. Learning in Quran and when we are trying hard for that, we get reward from Allah. And Ustaz also tells us some stories about the Quran.

One of his stories that i remember is about he being a coach for Tilawah al-Quran in Polytechnic. So, there was a student asking him about his problem. He want to memorize the Quran but he afraid of losing and forgot about it. If he forgot, Allah will ask him about it and get mad. It was kinda touching. Because not many of us thinking about Allah's feeling. They just want to memorize for some reason that's not related to it. Plus, another reward when we memorize the Quran, we get to save 10 person from our family. Isn't that wonderful?

Here are some tips for us to memorize ayah from the Quran.
1. Find a quiet place that's free from distractions for a 20-minutes session.
2. Select an ayah of the start of a surah you like.
3. Consider the meaning of an ayah by reading it carefully.
4. Obtain a copy of ayah's pronunciation if you don't speak Arabic.
5. Recite the entire passage out loud to get a sense for the rhythm.
6. Repeat the ayah over and over again until you internalize it.
7. Check you work against the audio recording to ensure you've got it down.

Sharing 3: Free Mixing between Men and Women

Assalamualaikum, we are to our third sharing. For this sharing, we are going to talk about free mixing between men and woman. In Islam, it is known as Ikhtilat.

I start knowing this word when i'm in secondary school. It is a religious school. So, taking care of ikhtilat is very important. Teachers and our seniors all talking that ikhtilat will shall not get less attention. And so, i just follow the rules. When we talk between boys and girls, we rarely talking by face to face. Usually, the girls will looking down. Sometimes, the just talk behind the walls. As long as, they are not seeing the face. Even, when we're making a group. We usually will not mix it into two gender altogether.

But, this is only happen when im in my secondary school.

When i continue my studies in University. It really open. Even though some of them are from the same background, where they also studying in religious school. They did not really treating people or opposite gender like when in in my high school. It will seem unique if we see there's a group of people who still taking good care of the ikhtilat.

However, in IIUM, i am glad that i got involve with a society that really good in differentiate between the communication in professional way and happy lucky way. There is a still a society that exist.

Before i continue with my story, let me tell you. The original hukm on ikhtilat is haram. It is forbidden. But, there are some circumstances that allowed us to. For example, when we are doing business, or in emergency. That's why we cannot take this lightly. In secondary school, it easy to practice ikhtilat. Because our teacher and the circumstances already divided us between the woman and man on the certain works. But, when we came to university and starting to work in real life. We need to take care of it. We are the one who takes the responsibility. It is our choice to pick on which side.

As we know, there's one ayah from al-Quran that related with ikhtilat.

"Don't get near with Zina."

Allah told us not even to get near. Not to get near.

So, i found a website that tell us ways to stay in guard when we are dealing with opposite gender.

https://wasyafiq.wordpress.com/2011/08/26/tips-untuk-muslimah-ikhtilat-biarlah-kena-dengan-caranya/

But, let me simplify it.

1. Lessen our business with opposite gender.

2. If you need to, try to use another medium like emailing and use formal words.

3. Lessen dealing with them by calling in phone.

4. Take care of your heart. Don't let it easily getting attached.

5. Take care of your sight. Don't look at a person too long or imagining things.

6. Show good behaviour. Make it as formal as possible.

7. Don't wear a strong perfume that will attract opposite gender.

8. Don't meet with opposite gender without mahram beside you.

9. The meeting should be a need. Not just for fun.

10. Make your business finish faster.

11. The meeting should be in open place and be professional.

I think that's all from me. I hope it is beneficial for you.

Sharing 2: Supplications and Sunnahs before Sleeping

Assalamualaikum, and hi everyone! Hope you guys have a nice day. \^O^/

Okay, for today's posting, i will be sharing a little bit about supplications and sunnahs before sleeping. Most of us already know some of it, but not everyone actually practice in reality.

The first thing is perform wudhu'. You can refer to this hadith:

Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) directed me thus: "Whenever you go to bed, perform Wudu' as you do for Salat then (before sleeping) recite: 'O Allah! I have submitted myself to You, I have turned myself to You, committed my affairs to You and sought Your refuge for protection out of desire for You and fear of You (expecting Your reward and fearing Your punishment). There is no refuge and no place of safety from You but with You. I believe in the Book You have revealed and in the Prophet (ﷺ) You have sent."' Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) added: "If anyone recites these words and dies during the night, he will die on the true Deen, and if he remains alive till the morning, he will obtain good. And make this supplication your last words (before sleeping)."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The second things that we need to do is reciting some surah.
Aishah narrated that:
Every night, when the Prophet (ﷺ) would go to his bed, he would join his hands, then blow in them, as he recited in them: “Say: He is Allah, the One.” And “Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of Al-Falaq” and “Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.” Then he would wipe as much as he was able to of his body with them, beginning with them first of his head and face, and the front of his body. He would do this three times.
